This three bedroom, single-level home fell short of the growing demands of its owners. It was in a predominantly single-level housing neighbourhood, but the owners didn’t want to move, or infringe on any rule that might need their neighbours’ approval. We proposed building on top of the existing house. We had a few compliance challenges, but in the end not only did the owners get two extra bedrooms, but we also managed to squeeze in a small sit out area too. From the outside, it feels as if the new upper level was always an integral part of the original house.
